Life through drawing.
I have always enjoyed drawing - anything, anywhere, anytime.
Maybe it started as a child of the 70’s when my Mother would produce a pencil and paper from her handbag to keep me amused rather than annoying her. We are talking pre-mobile phone here.
I recall sketching the room I was in, or a character I had seen from TV or my toys.
The drawings were like a polaroid of my mind. A snapshot of what caught my attention and imagination at the time.
I still like to take a moment to draw my surroundings and study what nature and humans have created - wherever I wander.
If I can be enjoying a coffee at the time, even better!
The Old Flour Mill Ipswich
Situated at the historic ‘Top of Town’ area in Ipswich, Queensland, The Old Flour Mill Building today stands as a reminder of a bygone era.
A quick finepoint pen sketch of the historic Flour mill located in central Ipswich.
It’s on an early morning walk before the street becomes busy with traffic and people, that I decided to try and capture this quick sketch. The Old Flour Mill located in Brisbane Road at the top of town area of Ipswich is a favourite building of mine with it’s heritage character.
I was using a finepoint pen on Strathmore toned tan paper, with a brush pen to bleed the ink for some quick wash. White gel pen was used to add highlights.
